Social Issues
Fog Woman Coffee is a proud supporter of Cafe Femenino Coffees. A portion of Cafe Femenino Coffee sales are returned each year to the Cafe Femenino foundation to help fund community coffee projects. A Coffee Child's Christmas Fund was created so coffee families in poverty stricken communities receive gifts at Christmas time. The simple gifts of chocolate, sweet bread and a book bring big smiles to the children. Visit www.coffeecan.org for up to date information on foundation projects and how you can help.

Conservation
Migratory song birds, hummingbirds that fly from the coffee farms in Central and South America all the way up north past latitudes 48 and beyond to Alaska need natural habitat for their survival! When buying certified organic coffee you are preserving vital rain forest habitat for these birds. Organic coffee farming requires trees to be inter planted with coffee shrubs too: fix soil, hinder erosion, provide shade and beneficial insects for coffee plants. Chemical pesticides and herbicides are never used in cultivation of certified organic coffee. Organic coffee farmers receive a higher premium price per pound for organic coffees.
Wild Pacific Salmon, halibut, bottom fish in Alaska need conservation advocates in order to sustain their numbers for generations to come. Coastal Alaskan and Northwest Coast communities greatly depend on natural resources and ocean ecosystems being managed with long term conservation in mind. Preserving ocean ecosystems as a whole will in turn ensure long term survival of valuable ocean life. Fog Woman Coffee supports marine conservation.
