Note:  Lisa dedicates her business to the memory of her maternal grandparents  Thomas & Florence.  Grandma loved her cup of coffee even though it was....... and grandpa enjoyed his fig bars with his cup.  They were Alaskan native pioneers.  They worked hard, raised a family on a remote bay and passed many stories and traditions down to us grandkids.

When you sip a cup of Fog Woman Coffee say "Jimak",  this means "good" in Tsimshian.  Grandpa used to say this when he ate his salmon eggs and fish heads with ooligan grease.   Yum!

   It began back in 1999, I was a busy mom going back to college. Out of neccessity and a love of coffee, I learned how to home roast coffee.  Fast forward a bit and the seed grew from a hobby into a family business.  I began business by selling coffee at the local farmers markets.  Folks enjoyed the coffee;  after trials, errors and patience;   blends were created and a roast style perfected.  Fog Woman Coffee continues to be a labor of love and a family business. 
     How did the name Fog Woman Coffee come to be?  In a clam shell;  my hometown is Ketchikan Alaska. Fog Woman and her mythic story are depicted on totem poles around town.  I named my business in honor of the mythical woman who represents our ancestors: Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian and their rich oral legends.  My mom is Coast Tsimshian; Killer Whale  and Interior  Athabascan.
